Cash-Out Minimums and Fees: What You Actually Keep on 10 Earning Sites (2026)

On a $1-a-day budget, how much you keep depends as much on the cash-out rules as on the earning rate. Of ten sites we checked against their own help pages in October 2026, three take a percentage when you cash out: Pawns.app (4% on PayPal, $0.25 minimum), PacketStream (3%) and Respondent (5%, $1 minimum). On a $5 cash-out a fixed minimum fee works out to 5%, so small, frequent cash-outs are where fees bite hardest. Gift cards are often the cheapest exit.

Every review on this site quotes a minimum payout. What those numbers hide is the difference between what you earn and what lands in your wallet: percentage fees, fixed minimum fees, and how long your money sits waiting. This page pulls the cash-out rules for ten platforms into one table. Every figure comes from the platform's own help centre, FAQ or announcement, checked on 23 October 2026, with sources linked at the end.

The Table: Minimums, Fees and Wait Times

Platform Minimum Fees Payout methods Wait
Honeygain $20 (Honeygain mode); from $0.50 on JumpTask (JumpTask mode) None stated by Honeygain; PayPal's own fees may apply PayPal direct; gift cards, crypto and more via JumpTask Not stated
Pawns.app $5, any method 4% PayPal or Venmo ($0.25 minimum); $4 Bitcoin; $0 gift cards PayPal, Venmo, Bitcoin, gift cards Within 72 hours
PacketStream $5 3% cash-out fee, plus any PayPal fees PayPal (USD) Within one week
Prolific £6 or $6 (combined balance) None stated PayPal Once a day; 72 hours apart for your first few cash-outs
Respondent Per study 5% fulfilment fee ($1 minimum) Tremendous gift card; PayPal via Tremendous in some cases Most within 7 to 10 business days
UserTesting Per test None stated PayPal only Usually 14 days after the test
Userlytics Per study None stated PayPal only First Friday after a 15-day window; up to 30 days under the terms

dscout Per study None stated PayPal Date messaged after your entries are approved
MakeYouTask $1.00 USDT ($0.10 for VIP members) None stated USDT via FaucetPay Automated queue

"None stated" means the platform's own pages don't mention a fee, not a promise that none applies. PayPal can charge its own currency-conversion and withdrawal fees depending on your country.

What a $5 Cash-Out Actually Pays

Five dollars is a typical first cash-out for a micro-earner, so it's a useful yardstick:

  • Pawns.app to PayPal: $4.75. The 4% fee would be $0.20, but the $0.25 minimum applies.
  • Pawns.app to a gift card: the full $5.00.
  • PacketStream to PayPal: $4.85 after the 3% fee, before any PayPal fees.
  • Respondent on a $20 study: $19.00. The 5% fee would be $1.00 anyway; on a $95 study you get $90.25.

The fixed-minimum trap

A percentage fee with a fixed minimum costs proportionally more on small amounts. Pawns' $0.25 minimum is 5% of a $5 cash-out but only 2.5% of $10. If you're paid in a currency that stays put, waiting for a slightly larger balance before cashing out is free money.

How Long Your Money Waits

Fees are only half the cost. Money stuck in a pending balance can't be used, and on smaller platforms it carries risk: if a site stops paying, unpaid balances are what users lose. Our FreeBitcoin and Nuggmi warnings are both stories about balances that couldn't be withdrawn.

  • Fastest: Pawns.app (within 72 hours) and Prolific (once a day, after your first few cash-outs).
  • About a week: PacketStream and Userfeel.
  • Two weeks or more: UserTesting (usually 14 days), Userlytics (a 15-day window, up to 30 days under its terms) and Respondent (most within 7 to 10 business days, depending on the researcher).

Five Rules for Keeping More of Your $1

  1. Prefer fee-free exits. Where a platform offers gift cards without a fee, as Pawns.app does, and you'd spend that money at the store anyway, take the gift card.
  2. Don't cash out at the bare minimum when a fixed fee applies. Let a fee-charging balance grow past the point where the minimum fee stops dominating.
  3. Do cash out early on platforms you don't fully trust. On new or wobbly sites, withdrawal risk outweighs fees. Take money out as soon as you're allowed.
  4. Know the mode you're in. Honeygain's JumpTask mode cashes out from $0.50 but gives up the 5% earning boost that Honeygain mode pays. Pick on purpose. Our Honeygain guide walks through the choice.
  5. Check PayPal's fee page for your country. Most of these platforms pay through PayPal, and its conversion and withdrawal fees can cost more than the platform's own fee.
