Connect, run by research-technology company CloudResearch, pays people to join academic and market research studies. Its own figures are good for the category: a $7.50 an hour minimum and a $10 an hour recommended rate for researchers, cash-out by PayPal from $5 or by bank transfer from $25, and a payout center that tracks your balance. The catches are an identity check through Stripe, a quality score that decides how often you're invited, partial-complete studies that can end early with partial pay, and a supply of studies that you can't control. It's a solid second panel next to Prolific, not a daily income.
Quick Facts
How we reviewed it
We have not been paid by CloudResearch and this page has no referral link. The figures come from the Connect participant page, a CloudResearch participant newsletter dated January 2025, and independent review sites, checked on 2 November 2026. We have not completed paid studies on Connect ourselves, so this review carries no score and no earnings claims. The screenshots are our own captures of the public marketing page, because the sign-up app itself only loads for logged-in users.
What is Connect?
Connect is a marketplace where researchers, mostly academics and market researchers, post studies, and approved participants take them for pay. It sits in the same category as Prolific, but is run by CloudResearch, which also sells research tools. You sign up, answer the "About You" questions that decide which studies you see, verify your identity, and pick studies from a dashboard.
What Connect Pays
Every Connect study shows a flat payment and the hourly rate it works out to. The sample listings on the page range from $11.61 to $16 an hour, for example $3.00 for about twelve minutes, or $8.00 for about thirty. Treat those as examples, since the page doesn't claim an average.
The firmer number is the floor. In a January 2025 participant newsletter, CloudResearch said it had raised the minimum payment on Connect from $6 to $7.50 an hour (12.5 cents a minute) and the recommended rate from $7.50 to $10 an hour (16.67 cents a minute). It also said longer follow-up and multi-wave studies "typically pay above average wages". We found no newer announcement, so check the live listings for the rates that apply now.
What Connect doesn't publish is how many studies an average participant gets. Reviewers describe it as a good panel with fewer studies than Prolific, which means your earnings depend more on being quick to grab a place. How You Get Paid
| Method | Minimum | Maximum | Frequency |
|---|---|---|---|
| PayPal | $5 | $100 | Once a day, full balance moves |
| Bank transfer | $25 | $250 | Once a day, amount of your choice |
| Amazon gift card | None | $100 | Currently disabled |
You must link PayPal before you can use it, and a cash-out can't be cancelled or switched once it's made. Check your payment currency and PayPal's conversion fees before relying on the full amount. Connect's page doesn't say what, if anything, it charges participants.
The Catches
- Identity verification. To keep taking studies you must verify with Stripe Identity, and it's the only method offered. Expired IDs, photo mismatches and poor lighting are the usual rejection reasons.
- A quality score. Your participant score is out of 850 and affects how often you're prioritised for projects, so careless answers cost you future invitations.
- Partial completes. Some studies can end you early, and you must accept that you may not get full pay. They're marked with an icon.
- Profile changes go through support. Updating "About You" answers or your email means emailing Connect support.
- Eligibility is unclear. The page doesn't list eligible countries or a minimum age, so check the sign-up flow before investing time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Published minimum of $7.50 an hour and a $10 recommended rate
- Hourly rate shown on every study
- Low $5 PayPal cash-out
- Free to join, run by an established research company
- Says it doesn't share or sell your demographic data
Cons
- Fewer studies than Prolific, and you can't request more
- ID verification is mandatory
- Partial completes can pay less than the full rate
- Daily cash-out caps of $100 on PayPal
- Countries and age limit not stated on the page
Who Connect Suits
It's a good fit if you already use Prolific, are happy to verify with an ID, answer carefully, and want a second source of studies that pays an hourly rate.
It's a poor fit if you need a predictable daily income, don't want to share ID, or can't use PayPal or a bank transfer in your country.
Tips if You Sign Up
- Answer every "About You" question honestly. More answers means more studies, and false ones can hurt your score.
- Turn on notifications. Email and SMS alerts help you reach limited places first.
- Use a valid, unexpired ID and good light for the Stripe check.
- Read the partial-complete icon before starting a study.
- Check the hourly rate before you accept, and skip studies that fall under the $7.50 minimum.

Final Verdict
Verdict: a legitimate second research panel, with limited supply
Connect pays a published hourly floor, cashes out from $5, and is run by an established company, which puts it ahead of most sites in this category. The ID check, quality score and uneven study supply keep it a supplement. Join it alongside Prolific and treat it as steady spare-time pay, not a daily earner.
